July is supposed to be the month where Microsoft will drop major new details on what their impressive Xbox Game Studios lineup has been working on for the Xbox Series X, and recent reports have suggested that July 23 specifically is when Microsoft will be holding that event. In a report speaking about the same, VGC have also stated that the first game from The Initiative – the first party studio Microsoft built from scratch in 2018 – will be revealed at the upcoming event.

The Initiative been rumoured to be working on a Perfect Dark game, while Xbox boss Phil Spencer has also hinted that the studio could be working on one of Microsoft’s older properties. Recently, it came to light that their game runs on Unreal Engine 4, and features “various weapons, gadgets, and a camera surveillance system.”

The Initiative have also been on a steady recruitment drive over the last couple of years, and have enlisted developers from across the industry with experience at several other major studios. The Initiative design director Drew Murray has described the studio’s first project as a “crazy, ambitious game.”
