It’s still roughly a month away, but it seems the hunger is quite real for these next generation consoles. Both Sony and Microsoft will launch their systems a few days apart in November, and even with everything going on and the world burning to the ground on a daily basis it seems, players are out here gobbling up any and all info they can in mass. Want proof? Look no further than how much people have looked at the PS5 teardown vs the last system from Sony, the PS4 Pro.
Yesterday, Sony released a teardown of their upcoming console, which you can see in full here. The views from the official YouTube channel have already passed a staggering 4.6 million views in less than 24 hours. For comparison, the official YouTube video on the PS4 Pro, even 4 years later, is just over 1.5 million views. There’s a few caveats here, of course, such as the Pro being an iteration of a system and not a brand new console (there are OG PS4 teardown videos, but not one on official channels and those have even less views), and that the popularity of teardown videos have increased a lot since 2016. It’s also worth noting this is from official channels. These videos have no doubt been uploaded a lot in third party channels and it’d be near impossible to garner all of that. Even still, 4.6 million views in a day is mighty impressive all on its own.
The PlayStation 5 is set to launch on November 12th. You can also see a little jab that Microsoft took at the teardown video that maybe didn’t quite land like they expected through here.
