Cyberpunk 2077 Has Been Delisted From PSN; Sony Will Offer Refunds To All Purchases

Well, that's quite the turn in this saga.

It’s now been a week since Cyberpunk 2077 released after almost a decade since its initial announcement. While there was a lot of excitement, there has also been a lot of turmoil. Most of that stems from the poor console version, specifically the last gen ones. While all versions have their bugs and glitches, even the PC version on a great rig, those on PS4/Xbox One, especially the base systems, have had major issues. OpenCritic, for the first time in its history, even issued a warning about that version of the game due to its infamous state.

Understandably, some have wanted refunds, but even that seems to have become entangled in several layers of hassle. First there was a misunderstanding from developer CD Projekt RED where they seemed to indicate they had arrangements with Sony and Microsoft in regards to refunds (they didn’t), and many refund offers were reportedly getting refused and told to wait for further updates. Well, it seems on the Sony side, they’ve simply had enough.

On the official PlayStation blog, Sony announced they would be delisting the game until further notice. On top of that, they said they will begin to offer a full refund to everyone who purchased the game. You can see the link to the full announcement below.

This now indicates that the game is no longer available to purchase on either the PS4 or PS5, since there was no native version of the next gen version and it was simply running the enhanced PS4 title in backwards compatibility mode. Of course, if you purchased the game already, you’ll still have access to it.

It’s an extreme measure, no doubt, and one that can’t ever recall happening beforehand. However, considering the issues that’s been reported it was probably deemed necessary. There has been no movement of this kind, yet, on the Xbox side, but the Xbox One version of the game reported a lot of the same problems, so it wouldn’t be too surprising to see something similar soon until these issues are smoothed out to some degree as the developer has pledged to do. We’ll keep you updated on the ongoing Cyberpunk 2077 saga as it unfolds.
