Halo Infinite Being Optimized to Run Well on All Target Platforms, 343 Industries Assures

Next-gen, current-gen, PC- all players should (hopefully) be satisfied.

When Halo Infinite launches later this year, it’ll be coming to a number of platforms with wildly different hardware capabilities. Versions for Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and Xbox One (which hasn’t been cancelled, contrary to reports) will need to consider three consoles with very different specs, while PC, of course, will present its own challenges as always, given the vast range of hardware that the developer will have to optimize for.

Any time a game launches across a number of platforms of varying capabilities, there are always concerns about how it might perform- whether it’ll be able to run smoothly on weaker hardware, or whether it’ll be throttled on more powerful one (the recent example of Cyberpunk 2077 comes to mind). 343 Industries assures, however, that the developer is working hard to ensure that Halo Infinite is optimized equally well for all platforms it is coming to.

“Here’s something that excites me as an engineering architect: for Halo Infinite, we rebuilt the engine multi-threading solution to ensure high execution efficiency across all platforms and PCs, instead of running optimally just on Xbox One,” Daniele Giannetti, Game Foundation Architect, wrote in a recent update on Halo Waypoint. “We used this new system to transition the renderer to a massively parallel multi-threaded framework to support the increased cost of all our new rendering features and achieve high graphics efficiency on PC CPUs of various size as well as Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One X/S hardware. In practice, this means that we are doing our very best to make sure Halo Infinite runs optimally on any device you may choose to play on!”

Halo Infinite will launch this Fall for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC. 343 Industries will be providing monthly updates and new details on the game going forward, so stay tuned for more information.
