Outriders Creative Director Talks About What Was Improved With The Delays

Bartek Kmita says they took the time to iron out several smaller issues.

Outriders

In just under two months we’ll get the release of Outriders, but it was originally supposed to come much sooner. It was actually one of the first games that was explicitly announced to be coming to the new consoles, and was going to launch alongside side of them last November. It was not to be and was delayed, and then…delayed again to its now April date. These things happen, of course, and it also allows the developers to polish things up.

In an extensive Q&A interview with Wccftech, Creative Director Bartek Kmita was asked about what they did in their additional time with the game. He stated that a lot of the time was done polishing up smaller things. He hinted there were issues, but it was not a huge problem, instead a lot of things that weren’t major that the extra time helped them get just right.

“The overall feel of the gameplay and feel of the game is very often a sum of small things. There was no huge thing that was missing, rather it was basically hundreds of small ‘irritations’ that altogether could sum up as an unpleasant experience. So we are trying to remove those as much as possible to give people the best possible experience. Of course there were some bigger and smaller adjustments to the already existing features, but I would mostly point out that we wanted to basically polish things that we knew could make the game feel lacking to the players. We knew why it would be the case, it was many small things that we needed to finish and deliver in a better form because otherwise altogether they weren’t working correctly.”

Outriders is set to release on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PC and Stadia on April 1st. A demo is set to release on February 25th, which you can read more details about through here.
