A number of fascinating details have come to light of late thanks to internal corporate documents that have been been made public during the course of the ongoing Epic v Apple trial, and very few of them have to do with the Epic-Apple conflict. For instance, we recently learned about the not-so-friendly discussions that Epic Games and Sony had with each other as the former attempted to get cross-play enabled for Fortnite across all platforms back when Sony was averse to the very concept, as well as the price that Epic ended up paying for the same. As it now turns out, the two companies had other interesting interactions as well.

As per an internal memo from Epic Games (via ResetEra), Epic Games reached out to Sony to snag a number of PlayStation first party titles as exclusives for the Epic Games Store for their PC releases. According to the memo, they offered $200 million for 4-6 games. It’s unknown what came of this, while Predator: Hunting Grounds did release as an Epic Games Store exclusive, Days Gone is coming to Steam as well.

Meanwhile, the document also shows that Epic considered reaching out to Microsoft and Nintendo to exclusives as well, but deemed both non-starters. Microsoft, thanks to Game Pass on PC and thanks to their growing partnership with Steam, and Nintendo, because funnily enough, Epic figured based on their history as a company that the very thought of bringing their games to PC, as EGS exclusives no less, is a “moonshot unto itself.”
