Xbox has just confirmed that Xbox Cloud Gaming is now available to all Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers across consoles, Windows, and Android in 22 countries, having moved out of its testing phase for a full launch. It’s also been confirmed that it will now be powered by Xbox Series X consoles, taking the place of Xbox One S server blades. In an Xbox Wire blog post, VP of Xbox Gaming Catherine Gluckstein confirmed that players will see noticeable improvements to streaming quality and framerates.

This news comes shortly after many users claimed that some games such as Rainbow Six Siege were now showing enhanced framerate options and had faster loading times, suggesting the Xbox Cloud Gaming could have shifted to Xbox Series X server blades, as Microsoft had said it would. For an optimal streaming experience, it will be targeting a framerate of 60fps at a resolution of 1080p.

It’s no secret as to why Xbox is putting so many of its resources into its cloud offerings, since the Redmond-based tech giant reached a $1 trillion market cap last year thanks to the increased demand for its Azure services. Sony still seems to be running quite behind in this department with its PS Now service, which still operates on PS3’s Cell architecture.
