Cyberpunk 2077 developer CD Projekt RED has had its work cut out for it in terms of bringing the game up to an acceptable level of quality, and since its rough launch in December 2020, the open world RPG has received a few major updates to fix some of its biggest issues. Most recently, patch 1.3 was released for the game, bringing a massive list of fixes and also adding free DLC to the game, though as it turns out, it may also have been hiding details on more things currently in the works at the Polish developer.

Tyler McVicker recently updated a video in which he discussed the patch, which, according to datamining done by him, has references to multiplayer, not just for older multiplayer files, but also for things still currently in development. A separate Cyberpunk multiplayer project was, of course, in development at CDPR until a few months ago, but earlier this year, the developer announced that it had been cancelled as it re-evaluated online functionality for its game. Considering that, this comes as a bit of a surprise.

Meanwhile, according to files found in the game’s latest update, it also looks like Cyberpunk 2077 will receive at least two large-scale expansions, similar to The Witcher 3. This is much less surprising, of course, since CD Projekt RED has maintained since before Cyberpunk’s launch that the game’s post-launch support will be similar to The Witcher 3and will follow a similar timeline.

Of course, it goes without saying, but this should be taken with a grain of salt, especially the details regarding multiplayer. Datamining does give us glimpses of things that are (or at one point were) in the works, but it doesn’t necessarily have to be completely indicative of plans that are set in stone. Until CDPR makes official announcements, it’s hard to be too sure about what lies ahead for Cyberpunk 2077.
