Death Stranding 2 is “in Negotiations,” Says Norman Reedus

The actor has suggested that a second Death Stranding game is happening, and that it is currently in the negotiation stages.

Death Stranding might not have the widest, most mass market appeal, but it’s performed quite well since its launch, having sold over 5 million units worldwide. Any game selling those kinds of numbers generally tends to have a pretty good shot at getting a sequel, and it seems one might be in the works for Death Stranding as well.

Speaking recently with AdoroCinema (via IGN Brasil), The Walking Dead actor Norman Reedus – who, of course, also portrayed Death Stranding protagonist Sam Porter Bridges – said that a second game in the series is coming, and is currently “in negotiations.”

“I think we’re doing a second Death Stranding,” Reedus said. “[The game] is in negotiations right now. So… Yay!”

PlayStation Studios boss Hermen Hulst did recently say that Sony is going to continue to collaborate with Japanese developers, which is worth pointing out. That said, leaks have strongly suggested that Hideo Kojima is partnering with Microsoft for a cloud-focused Xbox-exclusive title, so it might be interesting to see what their timeline would be for developing an exclusive each for PlayStation and Xbox.

Kojima himself, for his part, has brought up the idea of making a Death Stranding sequel in the past. Before the first game came out, he said that there would probably need to be sequels to properly establish the new genre the game was attempting to create. Later, Kojima said that if a sequel were to be made, it would have to “start from zero.”

In the meantime, we also have Death Stranding Director’s Cut coming to PS5 on September 24, so fans have that to look forward at, at the very least.
