Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic Remake

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic – Remake was by far one of the biggest announcements at yesterday’s PlayStation Showcase, which is really saying something, considering how many big announcements the show delivered. As a ground-up remake of one of the biggest, most beloved RPGs of all time that also bears the Star Wars name, it’ll have extremely high expectations to live up.

Developer Aspyr Media says that the remake will stick to the narrative of the original game while completely modernizing it with new tech, while it’s also been confirmed that the development team itself has various developers who worked on the original KOTOR itself. In fact, that’s not the only area where talent from the original will be returning for the sequel.

In a blog post on the official Star Wars website accompanying the game’s announcement, Aspyr’s lead producer Ryan Treadwell confirmed that the remake will see the return of many voice actors who had a role to play in the original game. One of those will be Jennifer Hale, reprising her role as Bastile Shan, whose voice can be heard in the remake’s announcement trailer.

“I can confirm that that is Jennifer Hale,” Treadwell said, referring to the voice in the trailer. “We all think the world of Jennifer. She is an amazing talent and immediately slipped back into the role of Bastila when she came to help us with the teaser trailer. I do think that you’re going to see some other familiar voices return, but that’s probably as deep as we’re gonna go on that one right now.”

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic – Remake is currently in early development at Aspyr Media, so it’s unlikely that we’ll be hearing more about the game any time in the near future. Whenever it launches, it will release as a timed console exclusive for PS5, as well as for PC.
