EA has one of the strongest catalogues of franchises in the industry under its belt, and even the company has narrowed its focus down to certain properties and kinds of experiences over the years, there’s no shortage of beloved franchises from across several different genres that had legions of fans when they were at their peak, but have been on ice for a long, long time.

Apparently though, it seems the publisher is gearing up to bring at least one of these back from the dead. Noted industry insider Tom Henderson recently took to Twitter to claim that EA is “bringing back a game series that fans loved back in the day”, and though he didn’t elaborate on that, he did say he will have more to share soon.

Given the rich lineup of IP under EA’s belt, there’s no shortage of speculation about what this allegedly resurgent franchise might be. Burnout is one that’s going to be brought up, of course, though with Criterion Games currently being busy with Need for Speed, that might be a little less likely (though EA does have Codemasters to fall back on for racing games now). Other dormant franchises like SSX, Medal of Honor, and Command and Conquer also have plenty of fans that have been hoping for revivals for years.

EA has been more willing to dive into its back catalog to bring back beloved properties of late. A Dead Space remake is currently in development, while a new Skate game is in the works as well. Whether or not there’s more to come remains to be seen, but apparently we’re going to get potential new details soon, so stay tuned for those.
