Battlefield 2042 – DICE Disables Proximity Sensor to Improve Server Performance

Among the many complaints that players have been reporting in Battlefield 2042 is poor server performance, specifically rubber banding. While investigating the issue, DICE discovered that disabling the Proximity Sensor throwable helped to improve performance. It’s keeping the item disabled while it does more tests but unfortunately, disabling it has caused an issue with other throwables.

All other throwables are now being displayed incorrectly on players’ displays. Though this is an “unintended consequence,” it’s ultimately a visual bug and the throwable that players choose is the one that they’ll ultimately have in a match. Regardless, it’s also tracking this issue so expect more details when it’s resolved.

Battlefield 2042 is currently available for those who pre-ordered the Gold and Ultimate Editions of the game. It’s out worldwide on November 19th for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS4, PS5 and PC. Of the many things that it will be missing at launch is voice chat, which is slated to arrive later.

For the next two hours, we are temporarily disabling the Prox Sensor to aid us with our investigations on the Rubber Banding issue 💡
