We’ve been bombared with Silent Hill revival leaks and rumours for over two years at this point, and yet an official announcement from Konami remains elusive. More recent leaks have claimed that Konami is fully reviving the horror franchise with as many as three games in development– and it seems more fuel has been poured on that fire by an unlikely source.

Film maker Christophe Gans directed the Silent Hill movie in 2006 and is working on another new movie based on Konami’s franchise, and in a recent interview with French outlet JEUXACTU (translated by Gamingsym), he seemed to confirm that Konami is reviving the series with new games, and that his new film is going to be part of that revival.

“The franchise is going to be relaunched in terms of video games, and therefore the film will become part of a global policy,” Gans said. “I believe that on a forum, someone deduced that and he is absolutely right; in other words, the film is indeed part of a whole.”

He added: “What I can say is that the film is rolling. I work with Konami. Konam are all about it and I think they’ve been galvanized by the success of the Resident Evil 2 and 3 reboots, which are marvelous games.”

As mentioned earlier, according to leaks, there are at least three Silent Hill games in development right now- a mainline sequel that will serve as a first person horror title, an interactive episodic story-driven series, and a remake of Silent Hill 2 developed by Bloober Team.

Though there’s been no official word on these games by anyone involved, Bloober Team recently seemed to strongly suggest that the rumours of a Silent Hill 2 remake are indeed real. Meanwhile, last year, Konami said it had a number of major projects in deep development.
