Gotham Knights appeared at the Summer Game Fest showcase with a new trailer for Nightwing. Despite its briefness, it offered a look at the different suits that can be equipped, including a sleek, ninja-like outfit. Speaking to Game Informer, executive producer Fleur Marty and game director Geoff Ellenor revealed that these are different suit styles that can be crafted (along with gear) from blueprints.

“Each of our knights has 11 different suit styles. As Geoff mentioned, those are full styles. Within a style, you can have customization with different pieces and different colorways,” said Marty. Ellenor added, “Each suit style is basically a silhouette. Every time you craft a suit, think of it as an instance of that silhouette that comes with stats and a specific colorway that you can then override by unlocking more colorways as you go.”

Regarding co-op, players can invite friends and adjust different settings for matchmaking to allow others to drop in. Alternatively, solo play is available but you’ll miss out on features like co-op takedowns. As Ellenor notes, “We have co-op takedowns designed to showcase the physicality of the characters working together. Really there’s a lot of synergy in how one hero’s ability influences the fight versus another. Nightwing is the strongest indicator of this; a lot of his abilities are about having buffs for his friends and protecting others.”

Both players can also choose the same hero if they wish and may experience some more humorous moments as result. “We’re leaving it up to players. We know some people will want to have different characters, but some won’t care. I don’t want to spoil anything, but there’s a funny moment in the game if you are playing as two of the same character. We’re giving you complete freedom,” revealed Marty.

Gotham Knights launches on October 25th for Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC. In the same interview, the duo spoke about the scale of Gotham City and how it’s “the biggest version of Gotham that has been represented in video games.” For more details, including how Batcycle customization works, head here.
