Steam Deck Supply Issues Clearing up “Sooner Than Estimated”, Production to Continue Speeding up

Valve says all those who've currently in the reservation queue to get a Steam Deck will get one by the end of the year.

There’s no hardware on the market that has been immune to supply shortages and constrained production, and that, of course, applies to Valve’s Steam Deck as year. Gradually since its launch though, Valve has been seeing notable improvements in the situation, having confirmed in April that it was ramping up Steam Deck production, and then confirming roughly a month ago that shipments would soon be doubled.

Now, the company has revealed that more progress has been made on that front. Valve says supply and production issues for the Steam Deck are clearing up sooner than it had anticipated, which, in turn, means that the company will be able to ship out the device in much larger quantities than expected.

Everyone currently in the Steam Deck reservation queue will be able to get hands on the device before the end of the year. On top of that, Valve says many in the Q4 pool have also been bumped up to Q3.

“We’re going to be able to fulfill demand sooner than we had estimated for everyone in the reservation queue,” Valve wrote. ” Many of the supply chain shortfalls that affect Steam Deck are gradually clearing up, and we’re continuing to ramp production, so we’re able to produce more Decks faster than ever before.”

Early last month, Valve announced that due to a shortage of parts and the COVID-enforced shuttering of manufacturing facilities, it would be delaying the launch of the Steam Deck docking station. The company hasn’t yet provided an update on that front.
