Hardware supply shortages are an issue that we’ve been seeing at the forefront for over a couple of years at this point, and all indications thus far have been that it’s not a problem that’s going away anytime in the near future. Xbox boss Phil Spencer certainly seems to feel that way as well.

Speaking in an interview with Bloomberg, Spencer said that he still expects supply of consoles to be able to match their demand this Holiday season, though it seems like supply chains are expected to see improvements in 2023. Xbox CFO Tim Stuart recently also suggested the same.

“I still think demand will outstrip supply for us this holiday,” Spencer said (via VGC). “We’ll see when we get into 2023, you’ll start to see more, that supply is catching up with demand, and maybe actually see one in the store when you walk in.”

Of course, other hardware manufacturers in the industry aren’t immune to supply shortages either. Nintendo recently said that it sees “no end in sight” to the global semiconductor shortage, while Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger suggested earlier this year that the situation might stretch on until 2024.
