The Resident Evil 4 remake launched worldwide last week to widespread critical acclaim, but in the UK, where its physical sales are concerned, it has performed below other recent releases in the franchise.
As per data provided by the Gfk (via GamesIndustry’s Christopher Dring on Twitter), Resident Evil 4 Remake has enjoyed the series’ eighth biggest physical launch in the UK. It has outsold the original Resident Evil 4’s GameCube launch from 2005 and sold more than 2020’s Resident Evil 3 remake did upon release.
However, its physical launch sales in the UK are lower than what Resident Evil Village (the series’ sixth biggest physical launch in the UK) managed upon its release in 2021, as well as 2019’s Resident Evil 2 remake (the series’ fourth biggest physical launch in the UK).
It is, of course, worth noting that this does not account for the game’s digital sales. On Steam, the game enjoyed the series’ biggest ever launch to date, and also hit a peak concurrent user count of over 168,000 players.

The Resident Evil 4 remake is available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, and PC. It is getting The Mercenaries as free DLC on April 7, while free PlayStation VR2 content is also in the works. As per leaks, the Separate Ways campaign will be released later on as paid DLC.
Resident Evil 4 Remake is the eighth biggest Resident Evil launch in terms of physical sales in the UK. Ahead of the original RE4 on GameCube, but behind Resident Evil Village (No.6) and Resident Evil 2 Remake (No.4). It did beat RE3 Remake (No.11)
