April was packed with a number of major new releases, several among them being games that many had been waiting for for quite some time, so it’s no surprise that many of them have figured into the April sales charts for the United States, as per data provided by Circana (previously known as the NPD Group).
As shared by Circana analyst Mat Piscatella on Twitter, the best-selling game of the month in the US was Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, which also instantly became the fourth best-selling game of the year so far, even though it was on the market just for two days. Meanwhile, Dead Island 2 took second place, ranking sixth in the charts for the entire year up to this point.
Other new releases in April’s charts include EA Sports PGA Tour at No. 7, Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection at No. 8, Minecraft Legends at No. 11, Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster at No. 14, and Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp at No. 15. Digital sales data is not included for Advance Wars.
On the hardware front, the PS5 was the best-selling console for the month in the US in terms of dollar sales, while the Nintendo Switch led the way in unit sales.
