Frictional Games has released a new video for Amnesia: The Bunker, the first part in a series with creative lead Fredrik Olsson. In the first part, he discusses three key aspects – experimentation, difficulty options and replayability. Check it out below.

Experimentation is pretty straightforward, as you’re encouraged to use resources for different purposes. Want to pour some gasoline near a barrel and light it to blow it up? Go ahead. Players are to use their resources without hoarding them, though they should still think carefully and not waste them.

Olsson also confirmed three difficulty options – Easy, Normal and Hard. Easy Mode sees the generator burning longer, fuel lasting longer, more resources being available, the monster not being as aggressive, and additional save lamps present. Normal is more balanced, and you’ll likely die more than once during it.

Hard Mode offers fewer resources, and you need to be more creative. Post-launch, Frictional is adding two more modes – Shellshocked, a higher difficulty, and Custom Mode, to adjust settings on your own. As for replayability, there’s no scripting for the monster, and it will react dynamically to the player’s actions, like triggering traps or using the flashlight.

Resources, codes, dog tag locations and items are randomized on each playthrough, as are trap locations and types. You could thus find the lighter and gas mask sooner or much later.

Amnesia: The Bunker is out on June 6th for PC, Xbox One, PS4 and Xbox Series X/S while launching day one on Game Pass. A free demo is available on PC.
