Alone in the Dark

Survival horror fans have had plenty of excellent options in recent months and years, and the next few months are set to bring plenty more with them. Of the many games in the genre lined up for release in the near future, one in particular that has caught the eye of many is Alone in the Darka reimagination of reboot of the long-running – and long-dormant – survival horror franchise.

Upon its launch later this year, the Alone in the Dark reimagination will be retelling and expanding upon the story of the original game, with Emily Hartwood and Edward Carnby – played by Jodie Comer and David Harbour respectively – starring as the two playable protagonists, each with their own unique perspective on the story. But how long can we expect the story for each of them to be?

In a recent interview, we posed that question to Alone in the Dark’s Andreas Schmiedecker, associate producer at THQ Nordic, who confirmed that each playthrough will be about 6-10 hours long, with the combined length of both campaigns being “at least” twice as much.

“We target a playtime of 6-10 hours for one campaign,” Schmeidecker said. “For the full story experience, we would expect players to play the game at least twice.”

Prevously, developer Pisces Interactive has also confirmed that both Emily and Edward’s campaigns will feature exclusive cutscenes, locations, and sequences that won’t be found in the other’s campaign.

In our recent interview, Schmeidecker also confirmed that THQ Nordic “committed to the franchise in the long run” and will be “happy to explore” potential follow-ups based on the upcoming reboot’s reception. Read more on that through here. Our full interview with Schmeidecker will be live soon, so stay tuned for that.

Alone in the Dark is due out for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on October 25. Alone in the Dark: Prologuea free playable prologue, is also currently available on all platforms.
