FFXIII-2 Will be same on both PS3 and Xbox 360 Technically

Yoshinori Kitase, producer of Final Fantasy XIII-2 has said that they are aiming for platform parity this time, and also mentioned what issues they faced when developing Final Fantasy XIII in an interview with Destructoid.

“When we made XIII, there were lots of movie scenes, so there were some issues transferring them from Blu-ray to an Xbox 360 disc,” revealed Kitase.

“The difference was quite conspicuous, but since then, we have moved on and now have more advanced optimization technology, which means many of the scenes that would be expressed through movies can now be expressed as real-time event scenes.

“We have a less serious issue of memory between the two difference consoles, so I think the difference between the two consoles will be a lot smaller now,” he added.

This is good news for Xbox 360 owners as they had to deal with 3 discs and be contend with a severely gimped port. For Final Fantasy XIII-2, the Xbox 360 version will ship on just one disc. It’s nice to see Square Enix taking both the platforms seriously this time.

Motomu Toriyama, director for FFXIII-2 mentioned that they are focusing more on giving western gamers a visual treat and they are quite pleased with the direction FFXIII-2 is heading.

“We are in the era of high definition consoles, and graphics are expected to be a lot better and more real, so I think Western gamers in general prefer games with realistic visuals. I think we have always been quite proud of the visuals we have achieved and the high quality of visuals in our works,” he said.
