Activision Still Has the Source Codes for Older Transformers Games

The publisher revealed that it still has the source codes for the games as a response to reports indicating that the games couldn't come to modern platforms because of the lack of source codes.

After a recent report indicating that Hasbro couldn’t bring cult-classic Transformers games to Xbox Game Pass because it had lost the source code for the games, Activision’s chief communications officer Lulu Cheng Meservey has taken to Twitter to state that the publisher still has the source code.

The titles in question include games like Transformers: Fall of Cybertron, and the Platinum-developed action game Transformers: Devastation. Owing to the nature of games based on external IPs, these games have become quite difficult to legally purchase, especially if you go further back to the Xbox 360/PS3 era.

Back in December, a new action game based on Transformers was announced, dubbed Transformers: Reactivate. The game is being developed by Splash Damage, who in the past has developed games like Gears Tactics.

For more details on Transformers: Reactivate, check out the trailer released for the game during The Game Awards 2022.
