Microsoft has announced that it’s shutting down on July 29th, 2024. Players won’t be able to purchase new titles, DLC or other content via the Xbox 360 Store on consoles or the dedicated website.
Microsoft Movies and TV App will also be discontinued on Xbox 360, so any movies or TV shows you own can’t be viewed on the console after the deadline. Of course, any games or DLC purchased will remain playable on the console and for Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S through backwards compatibility. You can also re-download them if they’re not installed.
If you own games physically, they will also be playable, and as long as publishers support multiplayer, online play remains available. It’s also worth noting that while the Xbox 360 Marketplace is shutting down, you can still purchase backwards compatible titles and DLC on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and via Xbox.com.
As for movies and TV content, they’re viewable on Windows 10 or later, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S. The closure of the Xbox 360 Marketplace isn’t the long-standing Microsoft service going away – Xbox Live Gold will be discontinued next month in favor of Xbox Game Pass Core.
