In the latest Night City Wire, CD Projekt RED debuted a new CGI trailer for Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty. It takes place seven years prior to the expansion’s events, with Solomon Reed (played by Idris Elba), an NUSA agent departing Night City. Unfortunately, he faces betrayal and is left for dead at the hands of his apprentice Song So Mi, aka Songbird, for reasons unknown.

Cut to seven years later with Songbird on the same spaceflight as NUSA president Rosalind Myers. After taking a hit, the flight crashes in Dogtown. The rest is history, as Reed is reactivated and must rescue Myers. What is So Mi’s motivation in all of this? Did she have something to do with the spaceflight’s crash? Time will tell.

Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty launches on September 26th for Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC. Update 2.0, which adds vehicular combat, revamped Perks and more, goes live earlier, so stay tuned for more details.
