Rumours about a remastered version of The Last of Us Part 2 have popped up repeatedly in recent months, and more recently, the game was also spotted on the PlayStation Store backend. Now, its full PS Store listing has leaked via PS Deals, revealing new details on how it’ll expand and improve on the original 2020 release.

As per the leaked listing, The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered will include a new roguelike survival mode called No Return. Each run of the mode will task players with surviving as long as possible and making their way through randomized encounters.

Players will come up against “a variety of challenges”, which will entail “different foes and memorable locations” from the base game, with challenges “culminating in tense boss battles.” Additionally, “a host” of unlockable playable characters, each with their own unique gameplay traits, will be available, including some that have never been playable before.

Beyond that, as per the leaked listing, The Last of Us Part 2 will also feature quite a bit of behind-the-scenes content, including “hours” of developer commentary, and three new “Lost Levels” from early on in the game’s development that never made it into the final product.

Also included is Guitar Free Play, which sounds like a separate mode where players will be able to freely engage with The Last of Us Part 2’s guitar minigame, while as per the leaked listing, additional unlockable instruments will also be included (this might be what composer Gustavo Santolalla may have accidentally spilled the beans on earlier this year).

The remaster also includes new unlockable character and weapon skins for both Ellie and Abby and a new Speedrun Mode, while also adding descriptive audio and speech to vibrations to its suite of accessibility options.

Meanwhile, on the visual and technical front, the listing mentions “a host of graphical improvements” but doesn’t go into detail on what that will entail. A Fidelity Mode that will run the game in 4K is also mentioned, though curiously, there’s no mention of a 60 FPS Performance Mode. The listing also mentions support for DualSense features and faster load times.

And when exactly will the remaster launch? A leaked reveal trailer has seemingly confirmed that The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered will launch for PS5 on January 19. Presumably, we’re headed for a reveal in the very near future, with The Game Awards on December 7 a likely contender.
