Leaked internal Microsoft documents emerging last September spilled the beans on the company’s plans to release an all-digital variant of the Xbox Series X, and a new report published on Exputer by known insider eXtas1s claims that that console is set to be released in a few months’ time.

Apparently, Microsoft’s all-digital Xbox Series X console will release sometime between June and July (with chances for a “slight” delay”), and thanks to its lack of a disc drive, is likely to be $50-$100 cheaper than the current Xbox Series X model, which costs $499, the report has claimed. The console will allegedly be white in colour, and in addition to not having an optical disc drive, it will allegedly come with an improved heatsink and an upgraded Nexus card.

Earlier this month, Xbox president Sarah Bond confirmed that the company had hardware-related plans for later in the year, though she pointed to a Holiday window, rather than the June/July window being mentioned in this report. It has, however, been confirmed that the Xbox Games Showcase will return in June, so perhaps some news will be shared at that time.

Meanwhile, Microsoft is also at work on the next generation of Xbox consoles, which, according to Bond, will deliver “the largest technical leap you will have ever seen in a hardware generation”.
