If it weren’t enough that Microsoft detailed its plans for bringing first-party titles to other platforms (which doesn’t include Starfield and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle), it also discussed its next-gen hardware. Xbox president Sarah Bond promised the “largest technical leap” in a hardware generation.

“We’re also invested in the next-generation roadmap. What we’re really focused on is delivering the largest technical leap you will have ever seen in a hardware generation, which makes it better for players and creators and the visions they’re building,” said Bond.

When it will announce this upcoming hardware remains to be seen, but it will likely differ from the potential mid-gen refresh that leaked last year. The company has claimed in documents during its FTC trial that it expects the next console generation to start in 2028, but further details are still pending.

The proclamation comes in the wake of Microsoft reportedly assuring staff that it would continue to manufacture Xbox consoles. As for the four first-party titles coming to other platforms, two are “community-driven” while the remaining are smaller titles. Sea of Thieves fits into the former, with Grounded also rumored to make the jump, with Hi-Fi Rush and Pentiment falling into the latter category.

However, Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer said there is “no fundamental change” to how Xbox thinks about exclusivity. Game Pass will also remain exclusive to Xbox consoles and PC, with first-party titles still launching on day one.
