Team Ninja’s Rise of the Ronin has received an accolades trailer despite receiving above-average praise from critics. You can check out our review, where we awarded it a 6 out of 10, or see what others had to say below.

Set in the Bakumatsu era, the story focuses on a Veiled Edge tasked with assassinating Commodore Matthew C. Perry alongside their Blade Twin. The mission goes sideways, and the player separates from their twin. From there, they can side with the Anti-Shogunate or Pro-Shogunate Forces, perhaps even take Perry’s side.

Rise of the Ronin offers similar combat to Nioh, with multiple weapons and Combat Styles bestowing unique abilities, parries and more. Players explore multiple open-world regions, including Yokohama, Edo and Kyoto, raising their reputation among the locals and strengthening Bonds with different characters.

In terms of sales, it debuted in fifth place in the UK physical charts but dropped to 14th in the subsequent week. Neither Sony nor Koei Tecmo have offered sales figures, so stay tuned for updates in the coming days.
