"Screencap this and shame me if I ever violate this oath," says Eric "ConcernedApe" Barone after an update on ports of the latest patch.

As one of the most successful indie titles of all time, Stardew Valley also has a reputation for excellent post-launch support. The last patch, a follow-up to the extensive update 1.6, added 40 new mine layouts, new hairstyles and more for free.

Expect this trend to continue as Creator Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone has sworn “on the honor of my family name” that updates or “DLC” will never cost money. “I will never charge money for a DLC or update for as long as I live. Screencap this and shame me if I ever violate this oath.”

While Barone didn’t specify if that includes his next title, Haunted Chocolatier, it’s more than likely. In the meantime, he’s working on ports of Stardew Valley’s update 1.6 after promising it would be released for consoles and mobile “as soon as possible” in April. Barone assured players that he’s “personally been working” on the mobile port’s update and will announce any “meaningful news” when it happens.

Stardew Valley is available for PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC, iOS, Xbox Series X/S and Android. It’s sold over 30 million copies as of February 2024 and received extensive acclaim from critics. Stay tuned for more details on update 1.6’s launch for other platforms in the meantime.
