Mortal Kombat 1: Khaos Reigns is arriving this September, bringing not only a new story campaign, but also several new DLC fighters. And though that is, of course, going to be a paid expansion, Mortal Kombat 1 players do still have some intriguing new free content to look forward to as well.

Along with announcing the fighter’s upcoming paid, new content, at San Diego Comic-Con, developer NetherRealm Studios also unveiled a returning gameplay mechanic called Animality. First introduced in Mortal Kombat 3, Animalities are, as the name suggests, a different form of Fatalities, only performed by animals (or fighters in animal form).

As glimpsed in the reveal trailer (which you can check out below), players can look forward to characters transforming into animals and ripping each other to pieces. Expect to see hippos, enormous praying mantis, gorillas, and more.

Animalities will be added to the game with a free update when Mortal Kombat 1: Khaos Reigns launches for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC on September 24.
