Monster Hunter Wilds - Switchaxe

Monster Hunter Wilds’ latest weapon trailer is here, and this time, the Switchaxe (or the “Swaxe”, as some call it) is the focus. Check it out below, alongside a fetching new armor set.

The Switchaxe offers two modes – Axe and Sword, the former offering longer range while the latter’s attacks are faster. There’s also a phial gauge built up with Sword attacks – when it’s full, attacks deal more damage depending on the elemental type. One can also unleash Zero Sum Discharge, a powerful blast.

In Wilds, Focus Mode seemingly allows for a combo ending in a regular Elemental Discharge. Players can also guard and retaliate with a heavy hit. Whether there are more changes to the weapon remains to be seen, but it remains as stylish as ever.

Monster Hunter Wilds launches in 2025 for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. Three weapon types remain – the Lance, Bow, and Dual Blades. Stay tuned for their gameplay in the lead-up to Gamescom Opening Night Live (where Capcom will reveal a new trailer).
