Ubisoft recently announced that it was delaying Assassin’s Creed Shadows by three months, with the open world action RPG now set to launch in February next year. Hot on the heels of that announcement, it’s now also being claimed by Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson that the company is also working on a co-op mode for the title.

As per Henderson’s report, the co-op, which is codenamed LEAGUE, isn’t something that Ubisoft decided to add to the game due to the aforementioned delay, with the mode allegedly having been in the works “long before” the delay. It seems safe to assume that the co-op mode will see protagonists Naoe and Yasuke being simultaneously playable, but details on what it will actually entail are scarce.

Earlier this year, Ubisoft seemed to tease the re-introduction of a co-op mode in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Meanwhile, the company is currently also working on a standalone multiplayer Assassin’s Creed title, codenamed Invictus.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows will launch on February 14, 2025, for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC (where it will also be available on Steam day 1).
