Sony’s hotly anticipated and controversial PlayStation 5 Pro is out now worldwide, retailing for $699.99 USD/£699.99/€799.99 EUR/119,980 yen. Check out the launch trailer below.
The PS5 Pro sports a slightly different outer panel than the base version, but it’s also lighter, weighing a measly 3.1 kilograms. Despite the lack of a vertical stand (which must be purchased separately), it does include horizontal stands to prop it up. You also need to buy a Blu-ray disc drive separately.
What does it offer over the base console? For starters, a 2 TB solid-state drive, 16 GB GDDR6 RAM (with an extra 2 GB DDR5 RAM), a GPU capable of 16.7 TFLOPS of performance, and a new High-Frequency Mode for its CPU to boost the clock speed. There are also features like PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution, an AI-upscaling tool to help titles reach native 4K, and advanced ray tracing for double to triple the cast speeds.
