Multiple major first-party Microsoft-published games have released for rival, non-Xbox platforms this year, with Sea of Thieves, Hi-Fi Rush, Pentiment, Grounded, and of course, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 all having released either for PlayStation or Switch (or both). Clearly, that experiment has yielded positive results, because the company has stressed on multiple occasions that it intends to keep up with similar releases in the future.

Speaking with Bloomberg, Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer has reiterated the same once more, suggesting that there’s no first-party game that Microsoft considers to be off-limits in terms of coming to PlayStation or Nintendo consoles.

“I do not see sort of red lines in our portfolio that say ‘thou must not,’” Spencer said.

Interestingly enough, Spencer stated that it’s too early yet for any such decisions to have been made for the next HaloPrevious reports, however, have claimed that a remaster of Halo: Combat Evolved is in development and in consideration for a PS5 launch.

For now, two first-party Xbox titles are confirmed to be receiving multiplatform releases in 2025, with Indiana Jones and the Great Circle and DOOM: The Dark Ages both headed for PS5. And of course, next year’s Call of Duty will also be a multiplatform title.
