Marvel Rivals

One of the year’s biggest hits has come right at its tail end. Marvel Rivals launched earlier this month, and NetEase Games’ free-to-play hero shooter instantly exploded in popularity. Unsurprisingly, it has maintained its impressive initial momentum, and continues to attract an increasingly large crowd of players, having hit another major milestone.

Taking to Twitter, developer NetEase Games shared that Marvel Rivals has now surpassed 20 million players across all platforms. That’s up from 10 million players, a milestone that the game managed to hit within three days of its release. Being less than two weeks old, the pace at which its player base is expanding is particularly impressive, though it should be interesting to see how well it can maintain interest from players over the coming weeks and months. For now, it’s certainly got a great start to build on.

In our review of Marvel Rivals, we awarded it a score of 8/10, saying, “Going toe-to-toe with Overwatch is a tough ask, but Marvel Rivals brings an impressive roster and its own nuanced action to the table, competing with and even exceeding Blizzard’s efforts.” Read the full review through here.

Marvel Rivals is available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
