Since the release of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, developer Insomniac Games has been quietly working on its next title, Marvel’s Wolverine. Responding to a post on social media platform X, the studio has re-affirmed that it is not quite ready to talk about the game yet.

In its post, the studio said that it will only start sharing details about Marvel’s Wolverine once it is ready. To that end, it can’t reveal things to fans asking questions because revealing details about an in-development game often tend to require time, resources, and the greenlight to share the details.

“We’re actively working on Marvel’s Wolverine for PS5,” posted the studio on X. “We’ll share news about the game when *we* are ready to share it. That will always be our answer.”

“We can’t act on everything requested when things take time, resources, and the greenlight to share them.”

This is essentially a reaffirming of what the co-studio head Chad Dezern said in an interview back in January. Dezern spoke about the studio being excited to reveal things about the game, but that it has to wait until the time is right. In the meantime, according to Dezern, Insomniac Games needs to take a page out of Wolverine’s book and remain stoic.

“We’ve announced Wolverine, and we’d love to talk more about Wolverine, but we have to be like Logan today, and remain very stoic until it’s time to pop the claws down the road,” said Dezern at the time. “As much as we’re as much as we have pent up excitement, we got to hold on to it. So that’s, that’s about as much as we could say about our upcoming projects today.”

The studio has spoken about waiting for the right time to reveal more details about Marvel’s Wolverine in the past. Back in May 2024, the studio has said on social media that it will “share news when the time is right, and the right time isn’t now.”

While work on Marvel’s Wolverine has been going on, a report from October 2024 indicated that the project got a new creative director in the wake of the departure of Brian Horton from the studio, who has since taken up the creative director role on Perfect Dark at studio The Initiative.

According to the report, Marcus Smith has now taken up the role of creative director on Marvel’s Wolverine. Mike Daly has also taken up a new role as the new game director on the title. The duo had previously worked together as directors on Insomniac’s Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart.

Since the announcement of Marvel’s Wolverine back in 2021, not much has been officially unveiled about the game. We do know that it will take place in the same universe as Insomniac’s Marvel’s Spider-Man games. It will, however, feature a completely standalone story that might only nominally crossover with the stories of the Marvel’s Spider-Man titles.

Marvel’s Wolverine is under development for PS5. Rumours have indicated that Insomniac Games might be targeting a 2026 launch window, but no official confirmation has been made so far.
