IO Interactive’s 007 First Light received its reveal trailer last week, showcasing a younger James Bond and new looks for classic characters. In a new developer interview at the PC Gaming Show, the development team outlined its philosophy for designing the game and what fans of Hitman could expect.

The idea was to balance between Ian Fleming’s work and implementing the signature IOI touch. As such, fans of the movies and novels will find familiar locations and elements. You can also expect to learn more about the origins of Bond’s signature gadgets, which include collaborations with Omega, Aston Martin and Range Rover.

Meanwhile, the story will examine Bond possessing all the core values but is more impatient and not as cold as he transforms into the super spy that many love. While you can crouch and sneak like Hitman, Bond can walk through the front door and speak to people, translating to more forward momentum.

IO Interactive also confirmed Free Flow combat, which is brutal and visceral, as players can grab enemies and throw them into the environment.

007 First Light launches in 2026 for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2.
