Borderlands 4, the newest mainline title in Gearbox’s looter shooter series, has gone gold, which means it’s being sent for disc manufacturing and certification on various storefronts. Of course, like many titles, it’s expected to receive a day one patch addressing any lingering issues.
Following up on the events of Borderlands 3, the four-quel follows a new band of Vault Hunters on Kairos. After Elpis collides with the planet, revealing its location to the universe, a rebellion sparks against its overlord, the Timekeeper. Players will work alongside the Crimson Resistance, which includes returning characters like Zane, Mad Moxxi, Claptrap, Amara, and more. Check out the story trailer here.
Alongside new Action Skills and skill trees for each Vault Hunter, Borderlands 4 introduces Licensed Parts, allowing guns to have multiple components from different manufacturers. There’s also the Ordnance slot, which places heavy weapons and grenades on a cooldown, and three new weapon manufacturers.
Borderlands 4 will launch on September 12th for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC, and October 3rd for the Nintendo Switch 2.
