Square Enix has announced that its upcoming action RPG, The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales, is coming to PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch 2 on June 18. The release date was revealed with a new trailer during the recent Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase, which you can check out below.
The trailer, coming in at over two and a half minutes in length, features protagonist Elliot thinking about his friends and allies that are in danger, mustering strength to get back up. After this, we get a look at the main story of the RPG, and its setting of Philabieldia. The environments showcased this time around are quite a bit more varied than what we saw in the announcement trailer. They include everything from dank dungeons, icy caverns, lava-filled caves, and humid swamps.
We also get a better look at the HD-2D art style that Square Enix has been using quite extensively in some of its remakes as well as newer releases. The style blends high-resolution textures and art with old-school pixels, harkening back to an older era of gaming while still using modern rendering techniques.
The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales was first unveiled all the way back in July 2025. At the time, Square Enix had explained that, despite being a hack-and-slash RPG, players will be encouraged to slow down and pay attention to enemies’ attack patterns. The title will also feature plenty of weapon choices, ranging from swords, chains and sickles, and bows. The title is also slated to include a 2-player mode, where the second player can control the fairy Faie and support Elliot in combat and exploration.
