It feels like we’re learning something new about Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced weekly, which is a testament to the amount of work that’s gone into it. But beyond the combat, new missions, and more, it’s incredible just how much more detailed iconic locations like Havana have become. A new gameplay tour is available courtesy of IGN, which sees lead level designer Jean Strachen walking through some of the most interesting details.
For instance, the entire population of the city exhibits dynamic behavior and “micro events” that contribute to the sense of life (and apply to animals as well). The layouts and overall architecture mirror the original, but the added detail is aided by a greater degree of authenticity. When night falls, you’ll see windows lit up by the people inside, as activity on the streets gradually dies down.
Of course, dynamic weather also plays a part, drastically changing the number of NPCs outside and visibility. It’s also interesting how different kinds of rainfall can be observed, with heavy winds adding even more variety to the mix. All this is only a teaser of what Havana has to offer, especially when it comes to social stealth, pick-pocketing, parkour and assassination contracts.
