Battlefield 6 has sure been good at hyping up exciting additions it’s bringing, even amid dropping player numbers post-launch. We loved the run-up to Blastpoint, for instance, and the way it introduced all the cool stuff waiting for us in the streets of Cairo Bazaar.
There was also that showcase of upcoming changes to the game’s gunplay to get us hyped for Season 4’s imminent arrival. Well, that just got quite a shot in the arm with the recent trailer, which brings us a good look at what to expect when naval combat finally enters the fray. There are a bunch of different boat and weapon combinations on display, as well as how attacking from the waters adds a tactical layer to your actions on land and in the air. It all looks quite naturally woven into the gameplay loop, and we’re pretty eager to check it out for ourselves when the new season drops on July 21st.
It isn’t just the new gameplay, but the new stages that it’s unfolding on that have us excited. Tsuru Reef and Wake Island bring their own unique design and visual language, and look like they could be catalysts for improvisation and intense competition. The trailer’s below if you want to take a closer look. Remember to listen for a very familiar guitar riff at the end (spoiler: It’s Top Gun), perhaps hinting at a new collaboration. We’ll find out next week, so stay tuned.
