After promising a hands-on event this Summer where players could experience Tides of Annihilation, Eclipse Glow Games has confirmed its first stop: Gamescom in Cologne. From August 26th to 30th, attendees will be able to try out a demo of the upcoming hack-and-slash action-adventure.
And while the newest trailer doesn’t feature any gameplay, the development team likens it to activities in Chengdu, where it’s based. The “action combat worth watching” is akin to Chinese opera, and you can seemingly expect a boss fight which is “bold and intense” and exploration which is “meant to be savored” – similar to two different broths in a hotpot.
If that wasn’t enough, building different combos and choosing when to deploy them is akin to playing Mahjong. In terms of analogies, these are pretty interesting, and we’re keen to see how the gameplay (and performance) has evolved since last year’s flashy trailer. The real question now is whether Eclipse Glow Games will release the demo for all and sundry to try out or take the Crimson Desert approach.
Tides of Annihilation doesn’t have a release date, but it is coming to Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. Based on Arthurian legend, it focuses on Gwendolyn as she ventures through modern-day London after an unknown attack, using the power of the Knights of the Round to survive. These manifest as temporary summons in combat akin to, say, Ender Magnolia: Bloom in the Mist.
