MindsEye certainly knows how to stay in the public eye, if nothing else. This time around, it’s a trailer for Grenade Football, a new 5v5 competitive multiplayer mode where you pick up a grenade launcher and use it to, er, launch a football at the goal. That’s it. We swear.
The new trailer does paint it as a fun addition to Arcadia as part of Update 8, but the gameplay looks quite basic, and it’s hard not to see this one as little more than a welcome diversion from the rest of the experience. Its simplicity could make it endearingly addictive if you’ve got nothing else going on from time to time.
Regardless, you can’t help but wonder about the thought process behind its making. Besides Grenade Football, the latest update adds the Silva E-Series: Summer Circuits, where players race around Redrock’s desert in a time trial. Leaderboards are supported, but this is single-player only.
As always, Build a Rocket Boy remains as much of a mystery as ever, and these strange new additions continue to maintain that reputation as far as we’re concerned. If you’re curious to see what Grenade Football looks like, the trailer’s below for you to check out. It’s definitely worth a look based on its absurdity alone.
