Star Wars Zero Company fills our XCOM cravings when it hits later this month, but what about an interplanetary need for speed? Fuse Games’ Star Wars: Galactic Racer takes the chequered flag and promises to be a worthy successor to Episode 1: Racer. But there’s more to race than just pods, as revealed by Hibi, Shade’s mechanic.
In a new series, she outlines different vehicle types, starting with the Landspeeder. A favorite of Luke Skywalker, it’s not the fastest or best-handling machine on the circuit, but its drift is unmatched in maintaining speed while rounding corners. Its durability is also pretty high, though taking too much damage means completing an Active Reload-like mechanic for repairs.
If you really need a burst of quickness, the Ramjet will be your best friend. While excellent for attacking opponents, heavy usage can cause it to overheat (and potentially explode). But when below-zero environments affect steering, it might be the perfect equalizer.
Star Wars: Galactic Racer launches on October 6th for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, and there’s plenty more to come in terms of vehicle breakdowns. In the meantime, you can learn more about the story’s roguelike structure and how different parts can make up for any shortcomings.
