S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl is a game that we’re always going to remember fondly, and its latest Cost of Hope expansion has done well to sustain that sentiment for us. It also ultimately helped it do well in our review.
It’s out now, and a new trailer marks the occasion with a look into how the uneasy peace between Duty and Freedom is going to be tested with you at the center of it all. Uneasy alliances, nuanced relationships between friends and foes, some action-packed missions, and impossible choices await in a storyline that could have you finding it quite hard to pick a side.
Of course, new mutants are waiting to try and make a meal of you and everybody else. Thankfully, new weapons to take them down with are waiting for you to pick them up. The expansion’s arrival also means that Update 2,0 is out, bringing with it a long list of improvements to the base game that could make it worth a new playthrough even if you’re holding off on the expansion for now.
If that’s the case, we wouldn’t recommend watching the new trailer we’ve left here for you due to spoilers, although you’re welcome to it if all you needed was an excuse to return to the Zone.
