Following a recent round of hands-on previews, The Duskbloods’ closed network test went live today, but you wouldn’t know it from the sheer number of players who couldn’t get in. Citing game server issues, FromSoftware has announced on Twitter that today’s session is “closed.”
“We will continue to work on improving the servers and will announce future schedules at a later date.”
The closed network test was slated to run from August 21st to 23rd on Nintendo Switch 2 (since it’s exclusively slated to launch on the platform). You would think this, and requiring a Nintendo Switch Online subscription, would deter fans, but apparently not. Of course, it’s worth remembering that this is a closed test, meaning FromSoftware could set the number of participants before it went live.
Perhaps the amount logging in at the same time overwhelmed the studio’s online infrastructure. This was one of the goals of the test, but players being unable to access it at all probably wasn’t on the docket.
Either way, we’ll need to stay tuned for more details on a new schedule (or even if the remaining sessions will continue as planned). The Duksbloods launches this year for Nintendo Switch 2, though FromSoftware has yet to announce a release date. Despite being the studio’s second multiplayer game in a year, director Hidetaka Miyazaki assured fans that it’s still focused on single-player games. He also dashed any hope of connections to Bloodborne.
