Just as we thought The Bloober Team was being awfully quiet about Project M, it’s announced the official title – Onyx: The Dark Grip. Launching in 2027, the studio has released a fresh new look at the upcoming horror title.
It’s quite a good look at what to expect from the horror experience that puts you in the shoes of Holden, a man who’s hearing mysterious voices and goes out to try and find out what the fuss is all about. Of course, things get murky pretty quickly, and you’re tasked with helping Holden navigate the world. While a protagonist with voices in his head might not sound particularly new to the genre, The Dark Grip’s innovations are in its gameplay, with the Switch 2’s touchscreen being a crucial part of the experience. Out-of-reach switches are yours to tap away at, and even the inner workings of NPC minds are there to help you make sense of whatever is plaguing you.
That means you’re going to be playing this one exclusively in handheld mode on your Switch 2, but it’s definitely going to be worth your while if this latest peek at what it’s going to put you through is any indication.
