As NEOWIZ and Round8 Studio continue to quietly work on the unnamed sequel to Lies of P, a new trademark filing has been spotted on the website for the European Union’s Intellectual Property Office. The trademark is for something dubbed Wonders of O, and is classified under the “Word” type, indicating that it’s a title for some upcoming project.
Digging further into the filing, it has been registered under two distinct categories of goods and services: virtual reality game software and “providing amusement arcade services”. It is worth noting that these categories are identical to the ones for the Lies of P trademark, and along with the owner of the trademark filing being NEOWIZ, there is a strong indication that this might be the name of the Lies of P sequel. The fact that Wonders of O also happens to have a similar structure to Lies of P certainly helps in making that connection stronger.
Another noteworthy thing is that Wonders of O has been filed on the “EUTM” basis, which means that NEOWIZ is filing this on the basis of an existing European Union Trademark that would serve as the foundation for the new one. Considering the trademark’s naming convention, the foundation in question is likely to be Lies of P.
As for what Wonders of O could be about, the name itself indicates the potential for a few fairy tales that NEOWIZ and Round8 Studio could target for reimagining. The most obvious one might be The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, with O standing in for the main location where the entire story is set. In such a story, there are a number of potential protagonists, be it Dorothy, or one of her companions, like the Lion, the Tin Man, or the Scarecrow.
None of the developers working on the Lies of P sequel have revealed any real details about the title yet. Back in January, NEOWIZ co-CEO Sean Kim had spoken about the project’s development progress going at a good pace.
“At this point, there is nothing specific we can share in detail. I can tell you that the team at Round8 Studio is excited about their work and fully focused on development.
“With the Lies of P DLC receiving further recognition through its various award wins and director Choi Ji-Won expressing strong confidence in the studio’s next project, we hope fans will continue to look forward to what’s ahead as much as we are.”
In August, narrative director Kwon Byungsoo spoke about how the team feels pressure about how it can do better with the sequel. “Back then, attending an awards ceremony or standing on that stage felt like something that happened to other people. I used to think, ‘I wish I could stand there someday.’ Now I find myself thinking, ‘We have to do even better next time. How much better do we need to be?’”
In the meantime, Lies of P and its Overture expansion are available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2.
