Is Remedy up to something? Is it gearing up to tell us what’s next after it gets Control Resonant in our hands? Its new CEO already believes those franchises should have sold better, and recent news has us wondering if there’s more to that statement than meets the eye.
Insider Gaming has reported on a trademark filing for Alan Wake’s Return that has been filed anew instead of being renewed, with updates that point to an expansion of the protections the original contained. Those expansions could point to a new film, which we already know Annapurna is working with the studio on.
But it’s possible a new game could fall under the revised protections Remedy is seeking, since it was previously notified of the original trademark’s pending discovery. We often like to remain neutral until official confirmation comes along and lets us unleash all that pent-up excitement. However, it definitely isn’t easy to do that at the prospect of playing a brand-new Alan Wake game.
Remedy sure knows how to keep us on our toes, and we hope it has something to tell us, although we’re happy to let it cook while Control Resonant keeps us busy in Dylan’s shoes if that’s going to help.
