The Coalition’s Gears of War: E-Day has been a treat for all of us since we dove into the adventure. It did pretty well when we put it through its paces for our review, and although we did find its story wanting in some aspects, it’s been good enough to fuel speculation within our ranks about where it could possibly go next.

There’s also the fact that Kalona is the perfect stage for the franchise’s signature formula with modern improvements to unfold. That it’s considered a natural choice for an Xbox exclusive by The Coalition makes much more sense now, especially with all the praise pouring in from the gaming world.

All in all, those great scores we gave it are, unsurprisingly, shared across the board, and a new accolades trailer showcases that E-Day is definitely the strong comeback the developer was hoping for. That’s good news, especially since it’s being looked at as the foundation for whatever’s next, and we might not have to wait long for more (though you probably shouldn’t expect it too soon).

Gears of War: E-Day is available for Xbox Series X/S and PC. You can also check out our multiplayer impressions, which includes Versus and Horde Siege.
